Background:
In accordance with Section 42-197 of the Code of Ordinances, the property owner of Lot 37, Block 12, of the Broadmoor Subdivision initiated an application for the designation of a Special Minimum Lot Size Block (SMLSB). The application includes written evidence of support from the owners of 42% of the block. The Planning and Development Department mailed notifications to 16 property owners indicating that the SMLSB application had been submitted. The notification further stated that written protest must be filed with the Planning and Development Department within thirty days of mailing. No protest was filed. This application had less than 51% support and was referred to the Houston Planning Commission for review and consideration. The Houston Planning Commission considered the application on September 14, 2017 and voted to recommend that the City Council establish the SMLSB.
The Planning and Development Department recommends that City Council adopt an ordinance establishing a Special Minimum Lot Size of 6,250 square feet for the 1400 block of Lombardy Street, north side.
