RECOMMENDATION: (Summary) Pass a motion to approve the final Contract Amount of $2,290,654.65 or 1.18% under the original Contract Amount, accept the Work and authorize final payment.
PROJECT NOTICE/JUSTIFICATION: This project was part of the City’s improvements of various groundwater treatment plants and was required to meet the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality regulations. Also, this project will improve the operability, maintainability and reliability of the plants.
DESCRIPTION/SCOPE: The project consisted of providing construction services associated with the construction of new/replacement ceiling tiles, A/C system, flooring, painting walls in Main Office/Control Room/Switch Gear Rooms, ammonia feed improvements, chlorine feed modifications, climate controlled enclosure for generator switch gear, emergency eyewash/shower, and replacement of existing Variable Frequency Drives with soft starts and associated structural. mechanical, electrical and instrumentation components. KIT Professionals, Inc. designed the project with 365 calendar days allowed for construction. The project was awarded to Industrial TX Corp with an original Contract Amount of $2,317,900.00.
LOCATION: The project is located at the Southwest Pump Station at 4410 Westpark Drive in Council District G. The project is located in Key Map Grids 491Z.
CONTRACT COMPLETION AND COST: The Contractor has completed the work under the subject Contract. The project was completed within the Original Contract Time. The final cost of the project, including overrun and underrun of estimated unit price is $2,290,654.65, a decrease of $27,245.35 or 1.18% under the original Contract Amount and under 5% contingency amount..
The decreased cost is a result of the difference between planned and measured quantities. This decrease is primarily the result of an underrun in various Base Unit Price Items and Extra Unit Price Items, which was not necessary to complete the project.
MWBE/SBE PARTICIPATION: The MWBE/SBE goal established for this project was 20%. According to Office of Business Opportunity, the participation was 22.36%. Contractor’s MWBE/SBE performance evaluation was rated Outstanding.
