The Director of the Houston Public Library is requesting that City Council approve an amendment to the agreement with AT&T for fiber metro Ethernet On Demand services that are to be provided at all Houston Public Library locations. One of the locations included in the contract, the Young Neighborhood Library, will be opening in a new location on November 5, 2016. The current location is:
Houston Public Library – Young Neighborhood Library
5260 Griggs Road, Palm Center
Houston, Texas 77021
Since the agreement with AT&T lists the above address, and in order to provide services to the new location, AT&T has requested an amendment to the current agreement that lists the new address of the Young library. We are requesting approval to amend the contract so that services can be installed at the new facility. The new address will be:
Houston Public Library – Young Neighborhood Library
5107 Griggs Road
Houston, Texas 77021
This agreement is funded by the Houston Area Library Automated Network (HALAN), a consortium of eight local library systems organized to share the costs of library automation and technology implementation, of which the Houston Public Library is a part. The HALAN agreement is approved by Council and appointees to the HALAN Advisory Board are approved by Council. The services covered under this agreement are eligible for the E-rate program sponsored by the FCC, which can mean a discount rate of up to 90%.
