SPECIFIC EXPLANATION: The General Services Department (GSD) recommends that City Council approve 13 professional materials engineering and testing services laboratory contracts with the firms listed below to provide materials testing services to support the construction of Capital Improvement Plan projects managed by GSD. The contracts will be funded at the time of the construction award. Each initial contract term is three-years with a one-year renewal option.
On March 25, 2016, GSD advertised a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for materials engineering and testing services for GSD managed construction projects. The RFQ contained selection criteria that ranked respondents on experience and expertise of the contractor and its individual members, technical approach, and quality assurance program. The Statements of Qualifications were due on April 14, 2016 and 13 firms responded. GSD evaluated the respondents and determined that all 13 firms are licensed and have the professional qualifications, experience, and technical approach to perform the services.

PROJECT LOCATIONS: Citywide
SCOPE OF CONTRACT AND FEE: Under the terms of the contract, the firms will be assigned to various projects during the construction phase and will perform materials testing to assure quality control during construction and compliance with engineering design specifications. The specific engineering tests and analysis to be performed will be identified in the respective construction contracts. |
