Summary:

RECOMMENDATION from Director Department of Public Works & Engineering for approval of final contract amount of $1,981,073.72 and acceptance of work on contract with REYTEC CONSTRUCTION RESOURCES, INC for Large Diameter Waterline Valve Replacement Project  6.26% under the original contract amount (WA11162) - DISTRICTS A - STARDIG; B - DAVIS; C - COHEN; E - MARTIN; F - LE; G - TRAVIS; H - CISNEROS; I - GALLEGOS; J - LASTER and K - GREEN

Background:

SUBJECT: Accept Work for Large Diameter Waterline Valve Replacement Project, WBS No. S-000702-0005-4.

 

RECOMMENDATION:  (Summary)  Pass a motion to approve the final contract amount of $1,981,073.72, which is 6.26% under the original contract amount, accept the work, and authorize final payment.

 

PROJECT NOTICE/JUSTIFICATION: Under this project, the contractor provided for the removal, disposal and installation of new large diameter water valves and ancillary work.

 

DESCRIPTION/SCOPE: This project consisted of the replacement of large diameter water valves that were deteriorated beyond repair, the installation of new large diameter valves, and the replacement of some large diameter water lines that were associated with the installation of the new valves.  The contract was awarded to Reytec Construction Resources, Inc. with an original contract amount of $2,113,287.00.  The Notice to Proceed date was 03/20/2014 and the contract duration for this project was 365 calendar days.

 

LOCATION:     The work performed under the contract was located at various locations within Council Districts A, B, C, E, F, G, H, I, J and K.

 

CONTRACT COMPLETION AND COST: The Contractor, Reytec Construction Resources, Inc. has completed the work under the contract within the contract time. The final cost of the project, including overrun and underrun of estimated bid quantities, is $1,981,073.72 a decrease of $132,213.28 or 6.26% under the original contract amount.

 

M/WBE PARTICIPATION:  The MWBE goal for this project was 19%.  According to Office of Business Opportunity, the actual participation was 18.60 %.  The contractor’s rating was “Satisfactory”.

Amount of Funding:

No additional funding required.

 

Original appropriation of $2,238,951.35 from the Water and Sewer System Consolidated Construction Fund No. 8500.
