The Houston Health Department (HHD) requests City Council approval of an interlocal cooperation revenue contract with the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) for laboratory analyses of milk sampling services for FY17. The contract period is from September 1, 2016 through August 31, 2017 in the amount of $114,834.00, and represents the renewal option 1 of an existing contract beginning September 1, 2015 through August 31, 2016, with renewal options.
Funding from DSHS will enable HHD to continue to provide DSHS with lab analyses of milk samples submitted by Department of State Health Services (DSHS) in compliance with Chapter 435 of the Texas Health and Safety Code Chapter 435 on Dairy Products and standards set by the National Conference of Interstate Milk Shipments and current U.S. Public Health Service Grade “A” Pasteurized Milk Ordinance.
Approximately 5670 tests were performed by this laboratory in 2015. The samples are collected by DSHS for the state jurisdiction.
