Agenda Item#: 17.

Summary:

ORDINANCE de-appropriating $39,224.00 out of Fire Consolidated Construction Fund; re-appropriating $39,224.00 out of Fire Consolidated Construction Fund; authorizing the issuance of a purchase order to NORTEX MODULAR LEASING AND CONSTRUCTION COMPANY dba BOXX MODULAR for the Lease of two Mobile Office Trailers through the Buyboard National Purchasing Cooperative for Fire Station No. 67 Expansion and Renovation Project (Approved by Ordinance No. 2013-0784) - DISTRICT B - DAVIS

Background:

Specific Explanation: On May 6, 2015, by Ordinance No. 2015-0418, City Council authorized the appropriation of $5,766,000.00 out of the Fire Consolidated Construction Fund (4500) to the design/build contract with Bartlett Cocke General Contractors, LLC (Bartlett Cocke) for construction services for Fire Station No. 67 Expansion and Renovation. Of this amount, $39,224.00 was allocated for the lease of two mobile office trailers to be used as temporary housing for the firefighters during the renovation.

The design/build contractor was unable to secure a contract with the trailer supplier for the mobile units.  Therefore, to avoid further delays and expedite the procurement, the mobile office trailers will be leased directly through the BuyBoard National Purchasing Cooperative.  Accordingly, the General Services Department recommends that City Council de-appropriate $39,224.00 out of the design/build contract with Bartlett Cocke and appropriate an equivalent amount to fund the issuance of a purchase order to Nortex Modular Leasing and Construction Company dba BOXX Modular for the lease of two mobile office trailers. This Council action is necessary because the requested allocation will exceed the $50,000.00 City Council approval threshold for BOXX Modular’s total expenditures in FY2016.
