ORDINANCE approving and authorizing an agreement to terminate water supply contract between the City of Houston and SOUTHWEST HARRIS COUNTY MUNICIPAL UTILITY DISTRICT NO. 1

Background:

SUBJECT: An Ordinance to approve the termination of a Water Supply Contract between the City of Houston and Southwest Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 1.

 

RECOMMENDATION: Approve an ordinance authorizing the termination of a Water Supply Contract between the City of Houston and Southwest Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 1.

 

The City of Houston (“Houston”), City Council, approved a Water Supply Contract (“Original Contract”) on December 13, 1995, Ordinance 95-1306 with Southwest Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 1 (“District”) so that Houston could sell treated water to the District. The District has requested to terminate the Water Supply Contract with the City of Houston and convert the District’s existing connection to the Houston Water System from a primary connection to an emergency backup connection.  The Director of Public Works and Engineering will issue a letter authorizing the establishment of the emergency backup connection.  

 

The City of Houston Infrastructure Planning Branch has evaluated the request and recommend the termination of the Water Supply Contract and conversion of the existing connection to an emergency backup connection.
