Background:

SUBJECT: Petition for the City’s consent to the addition of 2.0550 acres to Malcomson Road Utility District (Key Map No. 329S).

RECOMMENDATION: Petition for the City’s consent to the addition of 2.0550 acres to Malcomson Road Utility District be approved.

SPECIFIC EXPLANATION: Malcomson Road Utility District has petitioned the City of Houston for consent to add 2.0550 acres, located in the city's extraterritorial jurisdiction, to the district.

The Utility District Review Committee has evaluated the application with respect to wastewater collection and treatment, potable water distribution, storm water conveyance, and other public services.

The district is located in the vicinity of Grant Road, North Eldridge Parkway, Louetta Road, and Jones Road. The district desires to add 2.0550 acres, thus yielding a total of 896.1754 acres. The district is served by two (2) Regional plants, the Lake Forest Plant Advisory Council and the Faulkey Gully Wastewater Treatment Plant. The other districts served by Lake Forest Plant Advisory Council are Cypress Creek Utility District, Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 18, and Lake Forest Utility District. The other district served by Faulkey Gully is Faulkey Gully Utility District. The nearest major drainage facility for Malcomson Road Utility District is Faulkey Gully, which flows to Cypress Creek, then to Spring Creek, then to the San Jacinto River, and finally into Lake Houston.

Potable water is provided by the district. By executing the Petition for Consent, the district has acknowledged that all plans for the construction of water conveyance, wastewater collection, and storm water collection systems within the district must be approved by the City of Houston prior to their construction.

The Utility District Review Committee recommends that the subject petition be approved.
