| | | | | | | | Background:
The Solid Waste Management Department requests that Council approve a motion to extend the unpaid leave of absence of Shelia Harvey, Sr. Refuse Truck Driver, Employee #134306, beginning May 29, 2016 and continuing for up to 90 calendar days or until such time as Ms. Harvey is medically separated, whichever occurs earlier.
Ms. Harvey has a medical condition which has prevented her return to duty since July 27, 2015. On Jun 6, 2016, the department recommended that Ms. Harvey be medically separated. The medical separation hearing before the Civil Service Commission pending being scheduled in June of 2016.
Ms. Harvey was approved by the Municipal Civil Service Commission for unpaid leave of absence through May 28, 2016. In accordance with Code of Ordinances 14-172, any further unpaid leaves of .absence must be approved by the City Council. Therefore, the department requests that City Council approve an extended unpaid leave of absence for Ms. Harvey to ensure that the medical separation process can be completed. |
