Sole Bid Received for S21-S25591 - Approve an award to Priority Healthcare Distribution, Inc. dba Curascript SD Specialty Distribution in an amount not to exceed $473,200.00 for Nexplanon® etonogestrel implants for the Houston Health Department.
Specific Explanation
The Director of the Houston Health Department and the Chief Procurement Officer recommend that City Council approve an award to Priority Healthcare Distribution, Inc. dba Curascript SD Specialty Distribution on its sole bid in an amount not to exceed $473,200.00 for Nexplanon® etonogestrel implants for the Houston Health Department. It is further requested that authorization be given to make purchases, as needed, for a 36-month period with two one-year options. This project consists of approximately 1,300 Nexplanon® etonogestrel implants that will be administered to patients that visit City health clinics. These clinics are designated as covered health entities entitled to receive discounted pricing for comprehensive family planning and related preventive health services located at the Sharpstown, Northside, La Nueva Casa, and Sunnyside Health Centers.
This project was advertised in accordance with the requirements of the State of Texas bids laws. Four prospective bidders downloaded the solicitation document from SPD's e-bidding website and one bid was received. Priority Healthcare Distribution, Inc. dba Curascript SD Specialty Distribution is an authorized distributor that sells its product at a discounted price to participating covered health entities through the 340B Family Planning Program.
Hire Houston First
The proposed award requires compliance with the City's 'Hire Houston First' (HHF) ordinance that promotes economic opportunity for Houston businesses and supports job creation. In this case, the proposed supplier does not meet the requirements for HHF designation; no HHF firms were within three percent.
