SUBJECT: Interlocal Agreement between the City of Houston and Harris County Flood Control District for Hunting Bayou, Phase II, H100-00-00-E003.
RECOMMENDATION: Adopt an ordinance approving and authorizing an Interlocal Agreement between the City of Houston and Harris County Flood Control District.
PROJECT NOTICE/JUSTIFICATION: Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) and the City of Houston recognize an opportunity to work together to create a flood damage reduction project for the health, well-being and other benefits to the citizens of the City and Harris County along Hunting Bayou from North George Street to Dabney Street.
DESCRIPTION: HCFCD owns property within the City limits and now desires to construct, maintain, and operate the property as a grass lined trapezoidal channel, designated as HCFCD Unit H100-00-00-E003.
LOCATION: The project is located in Key Map Grids 454T, 454U and 454V.
SCOPE OF THE AGREEMENT: HCFCD is willing to close and remove the existing public streets within the project area and relocate existing public utilities owned and maintained by the City with the understanding that the City will abandon the streets within the project area. The City shall have no financial or legal liability under this Agreement for the Project.
ACTION RECOMMENDED: It is recommended that City Council adopt an ordinance approving and authorizing an Interlocal Agreement between the City of Houston and HCFCD.
