RECOMMENDATION: (Summary) Pass a motion to approve the final Contract Amount of $5,556,787.52 or 2.06% over the original Contract Amount and under 5% contingency amount, accept the Work and authorize final payment.
PROJECT NOTICE/JUSTIFICATION: This project was part of the City Wide Overlay Program and was required to improve and maintain a safe road surface and accessibility
DESCRIPTION/SCOPE: The project consisted of the resurfacing of arterial and major thoroughfare streets with asphalt along with the repair and improvements to curbs and accessible ramps. The project involved the design and construction of hot mix asphaltic concrete, base repair and pavement markings as needed. The project was designed In-House with 365 calendar days allowed for construction. The project was awarded Durwood Greene Construction Co. with an original Contract Amount of $5,444,850.00.
LOCATION: The project areas are located in major thoroughfares and arterials throughout the City of Houston.

CONTRACT COMPLETION AND COST: The Contractor, Durwood Greene Construction Co. has completed the work under the subject Contract. The project was completed on time with an additional 108 days approved by Change Order No. 1. The final cost of the project, including overrun and underrun of estimated unit price quantities is $5,556,787.52, an increase of $111,937.52 or 2.06% over the original Contract Amount and under 5% contingency amount .
The increased cost is a result of the difference between planned and measured quantities. This increase is primarily the result of an overrun in various Base Unit Price Items and Extra Unit Price Items, which was necessary to complete the project.
M/W/SBE PARTICIPATION: The M/W/SBE goal established for this project was 19%. According to Office of Business Opportunity, the participation was 20.85%. Contractor’s M/W/SBE performance evaluation was rated Outstanding.
