Specific Explanation: The General Services Department recommends that City Council appropriate $257,712.00 to the existing citywide contract with The Fierro Group LTD dba Fencemaster of Houston (Fencemaster) to furnish and install automated traffic gates and associated infrastructure equipment at ten facilities for the Houston Health Department.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project will install employee badge readers and one set of automatic gate operators on one entry gate at each of the following Houston Health Department facilities:

PREVIOUS HISTORY AND PROJECT SCOPE: On October 8, 2008, Ordinance No. 2008-0892, City Council awarded a three-year contract with two one-year options to Fencemaster in an amount not to exceed $6,849,744.50, for metal and wood fence installation and repair services for various departments. On September 4, 2013, Ordinance 2013-0780, City Council approved a first amendment to the contract, which extended the contract term for two additional years on the same terms and conditions. The contract is funded through various appropriations/allocations for metal and wood fence installation and repair services. To date, $5,377,556.31 has been expended on the contract.
M/WBE INFORMATION: The contract was awarded with an 11% M/WBE goal. Currently, Fencemaster has achieved 16.25% M/WBE participation.
