Summary:

POTTERS INDUSTRIES, LLC for Spheres, Reflective Glass Beads for the Houston Airport System - 3 Years with two one-year options - $2,212,702.25 - Enterprise Fund

Background:

Formal Bids Received for S06-S25627 - Approve an award to Potters Industries, LLC in amount not to exceed $2,212,702.25 for  reflective glass beads for the Houston Airport System.

 

SPECIFIC EXPLANATION:

The Director of the Houston Airport System and the Chief Procurement Officer recommend that City Council approve an award to Potters Industries, LLC on its low overall  bid in an amount not to exceed $2,212,702.25 for reflective glass beads for the Houston Airport System.  It is further requested that authorization be given to make purchases, as needed, for a 36-month period with two one-year options.  This award consists of Type III and Type IV Grade A reflective glass beads to be used by the Houston Airport System to provide Federal Aviation Administration mandated guideline reflectivity of runways and taxiways at George Bush Intercontinental, William P. Hobby and Ellington Field Airports.

 

This project was advertised in accordance with the requirements of the State of Texas bid laws.  Ten prospective bidders downloaded the solicitation document from SPD's e-bidding website, and four bids were received as outlined below:

HIRE HOUSTON FIRST:

The proposed award requires compliance with the City's "Hire Houston First" (HHF) ordinance that promotes economic opportunity for Houston businesses and supports job creation.  In this case Potters Industries, LLC does not meet the requirements for HHF designation; no HHF firms were within three percent.

 

M/WBE Participation:

M/WBE Zero Percentage Goal Document approved by Houston Airport System's Office of Business Opportunity.
