A property owner or the Houston Archaeological and Historical Commission may initiate an application for the designation of a Landmark. This application for Landmark and Protected Landmark designation of the Mecom Fountain at the intersection of Main Street and Montrose Boulevard was initiated by the owner.
A public hearing was held on March 24, 2016 by the Houston Archaeological and Historical Commission and there were no objections to the designation. The Houston Archaeological and Historical Commission determined that the application satisfied applicable criteria of the ordinance and unanimously recommended approval of the Landmark and Protected Landmark designation.
