Background:

SPECIFIC DESCRIPTION:  The General Services Department recommends that City Council appropriate $178,080.00 to the existing citywide contract with Koetter Fire Protection of Houston, LLC to replace failed fire alarm systems at the City of Houston facilities listed below:

PREVIOUS HISTORY AND PROJECT SCOPE: On August 8, 2012, Ordinance No. 2012-0691, City Council awarded a three-year contract, with two one-year options to Koetter Fire Protection of Houston, LLC, in an amount not to exceed $6, 175,400.00 for fire and security alarm maintenance, inspections, testing and monitoring services for various departments. On October 14, 2015, Ordinance No. 2015-0974, City Council increased the maximum contract amount from $6, 175,400.00 to $8,645,560.00 to address additional services. The contract is funded through various appropriations/allocations for fire and security alarm maintenance, inspections, testing and monitoring services. To date, $5,737,834.76 has been expended on the contract. 
 
M/WBE INFORMATION: The contract was awarded with a 7% M/WBE goal. Koetter is currently achieving 7.83% participation.
