CHASTANG ENTERPRISES, INC d/b/a CHASTANG’S BAYOU CITY FORD for Purchase of Emergency Response Vehicles through the Interlocal Agreement for Cooperative Purchasing with the Houston Galveston Area Council for the Houston Fire Department

Background:

S38-E25640-H - Approve the purchase of three emergency response vehicles through the Houston Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) in the amount of $150,428.00 for the Houston Fire Department.

 

Specific Explanation:

The Director of the Fleet Management Department  and the City Purchasing Agent recommend that City Council approve the purchase of one 14,000-lb. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) and two 19,000-lb. GVWR crew cab emergency response trucks through the Interlocal Agreement for Cooperative Purchasing with the Houston Galveston Area Council (H-GAC)  in the amount of $150,428.00 for the Houston Fire Department  and that authorization be given to issue a purchase order to the H-GAC contractor, Chastang Enterprises, Inc. d/b/a Chastang’s Bayou City Ford.  The 14,000-lb. GVWR and two 19,000-lb. GVWR emergency response trucks will be utilized by the Emergency Response Command Staff to respond to a variety of incidents.  These units will also provide a higher clearance which will allow usage during flood events. 

 

This purchase will consists of  one 14,000 GVWR and two 19,000 GVWR crew cab emergency response trucks. The one 14,000-lb. GVWR and two 19,000-lb. GVWR crew cab emergency response trucks will come with warranties of:  three years/36,000 miles bumper to bumper; five years/60,000 miles on the powertrain; and five years/100,000 miles on the diesel engines.  The three new trucks will meet the EPA’s current emission standards for trucks with diesel engines.  The three emergency response trucks will have a life expectancy of 10 years and will be additions to the Departments fleet.

 

Hire Houston First:

This procurement is exempt from the City’s Hire Houston First Ordinance.  Bids/proposals were not solicited because the Department is utilizing an Interlocal or Cooperative Purchasing Agreement for this purchase.
