RECOMMENDATION: Appropriate funds for the project.
SPECIFIC DESCRIPTION: The General Services Department recommends that City Council appropriate $67,130.91 to the existing citywide contract with Kentech, Inc. to furnish and install an emergency generator to replace the damaged emergency generator and to provide standby power for the Central Library.
PROJECT LOCATION: 500 McKinney Street (493L)
PREVIOUS HISTORY AND PROJECT SCOPE: On February 12, 2014, Ordinance No. 2014-99, City Council awarded a three-year contract, with two one-year options to Kentech, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $1,278,914.50 for maintenance, repair and testing of emergency power units for various departments. The contract is funded through various appropriations/ allocations for emergency system maintenance, repair and testing services. To date, $240,291.00 has been expended on the contract.
M/WBE INFORMATION: The contract was awarded with an 11% M/WBE goal. Currently, Kentech, Inc. has achieved 48.3% M/WBE participation.
