Accept Work - SpawGlass Civil Construction, Inc. for Terminal B South Apron Rehabilitation, Package 2 at George Bush Intercontinental Airport/Houston (IAH), Project 643B (WBS# A-000565-0003-4-01-01, A-000565-0003-4-01-02, A-000565-0003-4-01-03, A-000565-0003-4-01-04, A-000565-0003-4-01-05; Contract No. 4600011377)
RECOMMENDATION:
Pass a Motion to approve the final contract amount of $8,286,507.37, or 1.63% under the original contract amount of $8,423,709.39, accept work and authorize final payment.
SPECIFIC EXPLANATION:
The contractor, SpawGlass Civil Construction, Inc., has completed all the work required under the contract in the amount of $8,286,507.37 at George Bush Intercontinental Airport/Houston (IAH). The Construction Services performed were as follows:
• Demolition of existing pavement and utilities;
• Installation of new potable water lines, sanitary sewer and drainage lines;
• Installation of roadway and airfield concrete pavement;
• Installation of new fuel transmission lines;
• Construction of new concrete retaining wall;
• Installation of two new perimeter security access gates.
During construction, the project was managed and inspected by Houston Airport System (HAS) personnel.
The final contract amount is $8,286,507.37. This amount includes all under-runs and five change orders and reflects a net decrease of $137,202.02, or 1.63% under the original contract amount of $8,423,709.39.
SpawGlass Civil Construction, Inc. achieved 30.80% DBE utilization on a 30% goal, earning a “Satisfactory” rating by the Office of Business Opportunity.
Engineering testing services were provided by Quality Control Laboratories, Inc. under Contract No. 73231.
