RECOMMENDATION from Director Department of Public Works & Engineering for approval of final contract amount of $923,426.36 and acceptance of work on contract with TEXAS ReEXCAVATION, L.C. for Wastewater Collection System  Rehabilitation and Renewal (4235-50) - 1.82% over the original contract amount and under 5% contingency amount DISTRICTS B - DAVIS; C - COHEN; D - BOYKINS; E - MARTIN; H - GONZALEZ; I - GALLEGOS and K - GREEN

Background:

SUBJECTAccept Work for Wastewater Collection System  Rehabilitation and Renewal, Texas ReExcavation, L.C.,WBS #R-000266-0149-4.

 

RECOMMENDATION:  (Summary)  Pass a motion to approve the final contract amount of $923,426.36, which is 1.82% over the original contract amount and under the 5% contingency amount, accept the work, and authorize final payment.

 

PROJECT NOTICE/JUSTIFICATION: Under this project, the contractor provided sanitary sewer rehabilitation by point repair method to deteriorated sewer collection systems throughout the City.

 

DESCRIPTION/SCOPE: This project consisted of sanitary sewer rehabilitation by point repair method.  The project was awarded to Texas ReExcavation, L.C. with an original contract amount of $906,960.65.  The Notice to Proceed date was 08/15/2011 and the project had 540 calendar days for completion.

 

LOCATION:  The work order project area was located at various locations within Council Districts B, C, D, E, H, I and K.

 

CONTRACT COMPLETION AND COST:  The contractor, Texas ReExcavation, L.C., has completed the work under the contract.  The contract was completed within the contract time with an additional 150 days approved by Change Order No. 2 and No. 3  The final cost of the project is $923,426.36, an increase of $16,465.71 or 1.82% over the original contract amount.  More cleaning and television inspection were needed than anticipated.

 

The final amount of this work order contract was not affected by Change Order No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5.

 

MWDBE PARTICIPATIONNo City M/WBE participation goal was established for this project as the contract amount did not exceed the threshold of $1,000,000.00 required for a goal oriented contract per Section 15-82 of the Code of Ordinances.

No additional funding required.

 

Original appropriation of $972,309.00 for construction and contingencies from Water and Sewer System Consolidated Construction Fund No. 8500.
