Summary:

ORDINANCE approving and authorizing Amendment No. 1 to agreement for Maintenance and Repair Services for Sludge Dewatering and Drying Equipment between the City of Houston and INDUSTRIAL TX CORPORATION for the Public Works & Engineering Department - DISTRICT D - BOYKINS

Background:

S30-L23512-A1 Ordinance authorizing a First Amendment to Contract No. 4600010374 to extend the contract term from November 28, 2015 to November 27, 2016, including a fee schedule for the extended term for Maintenance and Repair Services of Sludge Dewatering and Drying Equipment for the Department of Public Works and Engineering.

 

 Specific Explanation:

The Director of the Department of Public Works and Engineering and the City Purchasing Agent recommend that City Council approve an ordinance authorizing a first amendment to the contract between the City of Houston and Industrial TX Corporation to extend the contract term from November 28, 2015 to November 27, 2016, including a fee schedule for the extended term for maintenance and repair services of sludge dewatering and drying equipment for the Department of Public Works and Engineering.

This contract was awarded on August 30, 2010 by Ordinance No. 2010-640 for a three-year term, with two one-year options in the original amount of $11,963,515.00. The contract commenced on August 30,2010 and is currently in a 90-day extension period that expires on November 27,2015.              

The scope of work requires the contractor to furnish all equipment, facilities, labor, materials, parts, tools, supervision and transportation necessary to repair/replace, on an as-needed basis, a multiplicity of sludge processing equipment, including but not limited to, centrifuges, conveyors, core-pak heat exchangers, fans, scaffolding, scrubbers and mixers at the 69th Street and  Almeda Sims Sludge Wastewater Treatment Plants.

The contract was awarded with an 11% M/WBE participation goal and Industrial TX Corporation is achieving 12.707%.The Mayor’s Office of Business Opportunity will continue to monitor this contract to ensure maximum contract participation.
