SUBJECT: Accept Work for Rehabilitation of Water Storage Tanks at Various Locations – Package 3; Blastco Texas, Inc., WBS No. S-000600-0043-4.
RECOMMENDATION: (Summary) Pass a motion to approve the final Contract Amount of $1,378,019.98 or 6.11% under the original Contract Amount, accept the Work and authorize final payment.
PROJECT NOTICE/JUSTIFICATION: This project was part of the City’s Water Storage Tanks Rehabilitation and Replacement Program and was required to ensure compliance with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality regulations.
DESCRIPTION/SCOPE: The project consisted of rehabilitation of four (4) ground storage tanks, three (3) hydro-pneumatic tanks and (1) elevated storage tank at six (6) pumping stations in accordance with the technical specifications, project drawings and contract documents. IDS Engineering Group designed the project with 420 calendar days allowed for construction. The project was awarded to Blastco Texas, Inc. with an original Contract Amount of $1,467,690.00.

CONTRACT COMPLETION AND COST: The Contractor, Blastco Texas, Inc. has completed the work under the subject Contract. The project was completed within the Contract Time. The final cost of the project, including overrun and underrun of estimated unit price quantities is $1,378,019.98, a decrease of $89,670.02 or 6.11% under the original Contract Amount.
The decreased cost is a result of the difference between planned and measured quantities. This decrease is primarily the result of an underrun in various Extra Unit Price Items, which was not necessary to complete the project.
