MacGregor Parkway is a linear park of approximately 100 acres on the banks of Brays Bayou between Almeda Road and Calhoun Road. The Parkway is owned by the City of Houston and is operated and maintained by the Houston Parks and Recreation Department. Harris County desires to install a Fitness Court within a 0.39965-acre portion of the parkway adjacent to South MacGregor Way, next to the existing hike and bike trail on the south bank of the bayou approximately at Oakcrest Drive for the use and enjoyment of the public. The Fitness Court is composed of stationary exercise equipment such as pull-up and push-up bars, sit-up bench, stretching posts and a sign kiosk with exercise guides on a 36’ by 36’ concrete pad.
The proposed interlocal agreement authorizes the County to enter upon the City property to construct the Fitness Court within the defined area at no cost to the City. The County agrees to design, build, operate and maintain the Fitness Court also at no cost to the City. The term of the agreement is 30 years, after which it shall be automatically extended for one year at a time, unless the County and the City agree otherwise.
