Summary:

RECOMMENDATION from Director Department of Public Works & Engineering for approval of final contract amount of $3,017,410.03 and acceptance of work on contract with REYTEC CONSTRUCTION RESOURCES, INC for Large Diameter Waterline Valve Replacement Project - 1.98% under the original contract amount (WA11047)

Background:

SUBJECT: Accept Work for Large Diameter Waterline Valve Replacement Project (UMB), Reytec Construction Resources, Inc., WBS No. S-000702-0004-4, File No. WA 11047.  

 

RECOMMENDATION:  (Summary)  Pass a motion to approve the final contract amount of $3,017,410.03, which is 1.98% under the original contract amount, accept the work, and authorize final payment.  

 

PROJECT NOTICE/JUSTIFICATION: Under this project, the contractor provided for the removal, disposal and installation of new large diameter water valves and ancillary work.  

 

DESCRIPTION/SCOPE: This project consisted of the replacement of large diameter water valves that are deteriorated beyond repair, the installation of new large diameter valves, and the replacement of some large diameter water lines that are associated with the installation of the new valves.  The contract was awarded to Reytec Construction Resources, Inc. with an original contract amount of $3,078,282.00.  The Notice to Proceed date was 12/03/2012 and the contract duration for this project was 548 calendar days.  

 

LOCATION:    The project area was generally bounded by the City Limits.  

 

CONTRACT COMPLETION AND COST: The Contractor, Reytec Construction Resources, Inc. has completed the work under the contract within the contract time. The final cost of the project, including overrun and underrun of estimated bid quantities, is $3,017,410.03 a decrease of $60,871.97 or 1.98% under the original contract amount.  

 

M/WBE PARTICIPATION:     The MWBE goal for this project was 18%.  According to Office of Business Opportunity, the actual participation was 19.18%.  The contractor was awarded an “Outstanding” rating.

Original appropriation of $3,247,197.00 from the Water and Sewer System Consolidated Construction Fund No. 8500.
