Subject: S38-E25547- Approve the Purchase of a Vice Van through the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) in the amount of $65,802.00 for the Houston Police Department.
Specific Explanation:
The Director of the Fleet Management Department and the City Purchasing Agent recommend that City Council approve the purchase of a vice van through the Interlocal Agreement for Cooperative Purchasing with the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) in the amount of $65,802.00 for the Houston Police Department and that authorization be given to issue a purchase order to the H-GAC contractor, Duncanville Automotive, LLC d/b/a Freedom Dodge Chrysler Jeep. This van will be used citywide by Houston Police Department personnel for tactical deployments by the Human Trafficking and Vice Division.
The new van will come with a full three-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and the life expectancy is seven years or 100,000 miles. This new van will be an addition to the Department’s fleet inventory. Currently, the Department does not have a similar van in its fleet inventory.
Hire Houston First:
This procurement is exempt from the City’s Hire Houston First Ordinance. Bids/proposals were not solicited because the department is utilizing an Interlocal or Cooperative Purchasing Agreement for this purchase.
