RECOMMENDATION:
Enact an ordinance approving and authorizing Amendment No. 2 to Lease No. GS-07P-LTX17261 (City of Houston Lease Agreement #75616) with the United States of America through its designated representative, the General Services Administration, for Transportation Security Administration space at George Bush Intercontinental Airport/Houston (IAH).
SPECIFIC EXPLANATION:
On March 5, 2014, City Council approved a Lease Agreement and Amendment No. 1 with the United States of America to lease office and break room space at George Bush Intercontinental Airport/Houston (IAH) for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). This agreement has a term through March 31, 2023.
Due to the need for TSA to move out of space in the Houston Airport Marriott to accommodate the hotel’s renovation, the TSA would like to lease additional space in Terminals A and B. The Houston Airport System wishes to enter into Amendment No. 2 to increase the amount of space leased by TSA at IAH by 4,148 square feet, increase the rent during the lease term, and provide for reimbursement to the City of pre-occupancy improvements to prepare the space.
The pertinent terms and conditions of Amendment No. 2 are as follows:
1) Additional Leased Premises Summary
Terminal A 1,218 sf
Terminal B 2,930 sf
Total 4,148 sf
2) Additional Rent - The rental rate per square foot remains unchanged.
Additional rent will be $294,051.72 per year.
All other terms of the lease remain unchanged.
