The
Housing and Community Development Department (HCDD) requests City Council
approval of an Ordinance appropriating up to $250,000.00 from the TIRZ
Affordable Housing Fund 2409 and authorizing a contract between the City of
Houston and Fort Bend Community Revitalization Projects to carry out the delegated responsibilities under the HCDD Minor Critical Emergency Home Repair Program.
On August
14, 2014, an open RFP was issued for proposals from
eligible home repair agencies to assist households that (1) do not meet
the guidelines of either the standard Community Development Block
Grant (CDBG) Single Family Home Repair Program or the CDBG
Disaster Recovery Program, or (2) have exceeded the department’s capacity
limitations. Fort Bend Community Revitalization Projects was the only
responsive and responsible respondent.
The program
goal is to assist up to 37 elderly and/or disabled households with incomes
below 110% of the Area Median Income (AMI) by providing roof repairs or
replacement, and repairs to vital building systems (plumbing,
electrical and heating) to alleviate life, health,
or safety hazards. Fort Bend Community
Revitalization Projects will evaluate and assist applicants from a HCDD
approved list.
