Summary:

PULLED NOT CONSIDERED - ORDINANCE approving and authorizing ninth amendment to contract among the City of Houston, HOUSTON INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT and SPARK to provide an additional $275,000.00 in Community Development Block Grant Funds for the continuation of the Spark Program for the Development of Neighborhood Parks on Public School Grounds - DISTRICTS C - COHEN; D - BOYKINS and H - GONZALEZ

Background:

The Housing and Community Development Department requests City Council approve an Amendment to a Contract among the Houston Independent School District (HISD), SPARK School Park Program, and the City of Houston to allocate an additional $360,000 of federal CDBG funds for the SPARK Park Program. This agreement will provide funding for the renovation of neighborhood school parks on public school grounds.

All SPARK parks will be located in low-income areas. The grant will fund renovation activities at the following parks:

In addition to CDBG funds, each school will receive $5,000 from the School District, $5,000 from the School, and $5,000 from the SPARK Program for the aforementioned renovation activities at the school parks.
