In accordance with Article VII, Historic Preservation, Chapter 33, Code of Ordinances of the City of Houston and Chapter 211, Texas Local Government Code, allows for City Council to designate a Landmark, Protected Landmark, or Change of Designation upon application by the property owner.
The Houston Archaeological and Historical Commission (HAHC) recommends to City Council the approval of the following Landmarks, Protected Landmarks, and Change of Designation after determining the applications satisfied all criteria of the ordinance.
- Landmark: Greater Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church at 828 W 20th Street (HAHC approval; November 7, 2024)
- Protected Landmark: Valenti-Dissen House at 1505 Alamo Street (HAHC approval; May 8, 2025)
- Protected Landmark: Valenti-Dissen House at 1507 Alamo Street (HAHC approval; May 8, 2025)
- Protected Landmark: West Edgemont’s “Dream Home” at 1707 Milford Street (HAHC approval; June 5, 2025)
- Landmark: The Alan and Hattie Green House at 5319 Institute Lane (HAHC approval; June 5, 2025)
- Protected Landmark: Greater Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church at 3029 Holman Street (HAHC approval; October 9, 2025)
- Change of Designation: 3109 Morrison Street from Contributing to Non-Contributing in the Woodland Heights Historic District (HAHC approval; November 7, 2024)
- Change of Designation: 320 E 20th Street from Potentially Contributing to Non-Contributing in the Houston Heights East Historic District (HAHC approval; September 11, 2025).
A public hearing on the designations is proposed for Wednesday, November 12, 9:00 a.m., in the City Hall Council Chambers. Notice of the public hearing date and location will be published in a local newspaper of general circulation.
