Summary:

ORDINANCE approving and authorizing Grant Agreement with UNITED WAY OF GREATER HOUSTON to fund the Acquisition and Installation of Generators at one or more Community Multi-Service Centers; authorizing the Chief Recovery & Resilience Officer or Designee to act as the City’s representative and to accept the Grant and Funds, and expend the Grant Funds, as awarded, and to apply for and accept all subsequent awards, if any, pertaining to the Grant

Background:

RECOMMENDATION:

Adopt an ordinance authorizing an agreement for the City of Houston to receive funds from the United Way of Greater Houston (UWGH) for the acquisition and installation of generators;  authorizing the Chief Recovery & Resilience Officer or designee to act as a signatory on this agreement, to accept and expend this award, to authorize the Mayor to execute this contract and all subsequent amendments with the approval of the City Attorney in connection with this grant, not to exceed five years.

 

SPECIFIC EXPLANATION:

The purpose of the grant agreement between the United Way of Greater Houston and the City of Houston is to fund the acquisition of generator(s) and/or related installation costs at one or more community multi-service centers. The centers shall be used to provide response and relief to the public in times of disaster. Location of the generator(s) will be finalized with the mutual agreement of the UWGH and the City of Houston.

 

Under the proposed agreement, UWGH will provide funding in the amount of $665,000.00 to the City of Houston. All funds must be expended by March 31, 2027.
