Summary:

ORDINANCE approving and authorizing Reimbursable Agreement between City of Houston and the FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION for Engineering, Design, and Construction Services at George Bush Intercontinental Airport/Houston; providing a maximum contract amount - $106,110.00 - Enterprise Fund - DISTRICT B - JACKSON

Background:

Background:

Enact an ordinance approving and authorizing a Reimbursable Agreement between the City of Houston and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to perform  Engineering, Design, and Construction/Installation at George Bush Intercontinental Airport/Houston (IAH) in support of the Airfield Drainage and Safety Improvements Project (Project No. 998) and setting a maximum contract amount of $106,110.00.

SPECIFIC EXPLANATION:

This Reimbursable Agreement provides funding for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to perform site visit, preliminary design, engineering, review, and construction/installation activities to support the Airfield Drainage and Safety Improvements Project at George Bush Intercontinental Airport/Houston (IAH) (Project No. 998).The Project No. 998 scope includes the repair, backfill, re-grade, and correction of erosion and sinkholes along drainage channels at IAH. It also includes improving and adding backslope swale and interceptors to these channels across the airfield, mitigating the effects of stormwater runoff from runways and taxiways.

Support from the FAA is necessary as Project No. 998 impacts FAA National Airspace System (NAS) facilities, including the Multilateration Remote Unit (MRU), Surface Weather System (SWS), Glide Slope (GS), Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI), Runway Visual Range (RVR), Fiber Optic Transmission System (FOTS), and FAA cabling and infrastructure. This Reimbursable Agreement provides funding for the FAA to perform aforementioned service activities to meet all applicable FAA standards.

The work to be performed by the FAA through the execution of this Reimbursable Agreement will include preliminary design planning activities, including technical consultation, site visits, feasibility assessments, project planning, scope definition, development of cost estimate(s); engineering design reviews of sponsor-provided design packages; development of FAA design packages; construction/installation oversight; and modification, removal, and restoration required to address impacted FAA NAS facilities.
