This week I am seeking your support to amend Section 2-277 of the Code of Ordinances, which would allow for additional professional considerations to be made when appointing a Director of Houston Public Works. If approved, I am also asking for your support in appointing Randall V. Macchi as the Director of Houston Public Works for the City of Houston. His resume is attached.
Randy Macchi serves as the Chief Operating Officer for Houston Public Works, the largest American Public Works department accredited by the APWA. Leading a workforce of approximately 4,200 employees and managing an annual budget of $2.7 billion, he oversees the city's critical infrastructure, including transportation, drainage, water systems, permitting, and customer account services. With a proven record of transformational leadership and strategic vision, Randy brings innovative solutions to urban challenges, ensuring efficient service delivery and fostering sustainability for the City of Houston.
His appointment will appear on the agenda of November 20, 2024, and he will be available to meet with each of you prior to that date.
