Chapter 33, Section 33-222 and 33-224 of the Code of Ordinances allows for City Council to designate a Landmark, Protected Landmark, or Significant Structure upon application by property owner.
This application for Protected Landmark designation of The Dr. and Mrs. Robert A. Johnston House at 7 Shadow Lawn was initiated by the owners.
A public hearing was held on July 18, 2024 by the Houston Archaeological and Historical Commission and there were no objections to the designation. The Houston Archaeological and Historical Commission determined that the application satisfied applicable criteria of the ordinance and unanimously recommended approval of the Protected Landmark designation.
City Council held a public hearing on the designation request on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, 9:00 a.m., in the City Hall Council Chambers. Notice of the public hearing date was published in a local newspaper of general circulation.
The Planning and Development Department recommends that City Council approve the designation of 7 Shadow Lawn as a Protected Landmark.
