The Chief Information Officer recommends that City Council approve an ordinance to appropriate $100,000.00 from the Equipment Acquisition Consolidated Fund (1800) for the planned CAD Infrastructure Refresh Project for Houston Information Technology Services. This Project is budgeted in the approved FY2025 Capital Improvement Plan adopted by City Council.
The Project description with allocation amount is as follows:
PROJECT PROJECT NO. AMOUNT
CAD Infrastructure Refresh WBS# X-680096* $100,000.00
Communication is paramount to public safety and for the performance of our first responders. The Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system is a key component of the City’s public safety solution enabling 911 call takers to document 911 calls for service and share critical information with first responders. This planned CAD Infrastructure Refresh Project is necessary for the City to maintain and support the City’s computer and storage environment. This appropriation will allow for the purchase and replacement of CAD Infrastructure that is nearing end of life and/or end of support, to ensure this critical system continues to function with high availability. HITS will leverage cooperative contract(s) and/or existing enterprise contract(s) for the purchase of hardware, software and installation.
No significant Fiscal Operating impact is anticipated because of this project.
