Summary:

RECOMMENDATION from Director Houston Airport System for approval of final contract amount of $50,114,661.80 and acceptance of work on contract with MANHATTAN CONSTRUCTION COMPANY for the Terminal D Renovations Project at George Bush Intercontinental Airport/Houston (IAH) (Project No. 500N) - 1.29% under the original contract amount - DISTRICT B - JACKSON

Background:

RECOMMENDATION:

Pass a motion to approve the final contract amount of $50,114,661.80, or 1.29% under the original contract amount of $50,770,530.00, to accept the work, and to authorize the final payment.

 

SPECIFIC EXPLANATION:

Manhattan Construction Company has completed all the work required under the contract in the amount of $50,114,661.80 for the Terminal D Renovations Project at George Bush Intercontinental Airport/Houston (IAH) (Project No. 500N). The final contract amount includes 174 Change Orders with a net value of -$655,868.20.

 

During construction, the project was managed and inspected by Houston Airport System (HAS) personnel.

 

It is now requested that City Council pass a motion to approve the final contract amount of $50,114,661.80, or 1.29% under the original contract amount of $50,770,530.00, to accept the work, and to authorize the final payment.

 

MWSBE Participation:

The advertised and approved MWSBE contract goals for this project were 15% MBE, 1% WBE, and 17% SBE. According to the Office of Business Opportunity, the actual participation achieved on this project was 10.49% MBE, 0.41% WBE, and 9.04% SBE. The MWSBE performance on this project was rated Satisfactory due to Good Faith Efforts for the following reason: The prime made good faith efforts to meet the MWSBE goals and utilize all goal credit contractors to the extent possible. For the reason listed, the MWSBE performance meets the good faith efforts requirements mandated by the City's MWSBE Program.
