Background:

Formal Bids Received August 01, 2024, for (B23-Doc11595533298) - Approve an award to RedZone Robotics, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $174,925.00 for the purchase of Autonomous Pipe Inspection Units for Houston Public Works.

 

Specific Explanation:  

The Chief Procurement Officer and the Chief Operating Officer of Houston Public Works (HPW) recommend that City Council approve an award to RedZone Robotics, Inc., on its sole bid in an amount not to exceed $174,925.00 to purchase two (2) Autonomous Pipe Inspection Crawler Units for Houston Public Works.

 

This purchase consists of two (2) Autonomous Pipe Inspection Crawler Units. The Autonomous Pipe Inspection Crawler consists of a camera capable of inspecting 8”-12” diameter sanitary sewer or storm water pipes.  This camera will allow for unmanned sewer inspections for a more efficient plan to resolve sanitary sewer inspections pertaining to sanitary sewer overflows, without requiring the mobilization of a large vehicle such as traditional Closed Circuit Television Video (CCTV) Trucks. This equipment will also assist with inspections required to comply with the requirements of the Consent Decree.

 

This project was advertised in accordance with the requirements of the State of Texas bid laws. One (1) bid was received via the City of Houston’s Ariba procurement system.

Hire Houston First:

The proposed award requires compliance with the City’s ‘Hire Houston First’ (HHF) ordinance that promotes economic opportunity for Houston businesses and supports job creation. In this case, RedZone Robotics, Inc. does not meet the requirements for HHF designation; no HHF firms were within three percent.

 

Fiscal Note:

Funding for this item is included in the FY25 Adopted Budget. Therefore, no Fiscal Note is required as stated in the Financial Policies.
