The Chief Information Officer recommends that City Council approve an ordinance to appropriate $2,250,000.00 from the Equipment Acquisition Consolidated Fund (1800) for the planned Citywide PC Refresh Project for Houston Information Technology Services (HITS) and various departments. This planned Citywide PC Refresh Project is a crucial initiative aimed at replacing legacy PCs across the City of Houston. The objectives of this project are to ensure that City devices remain up to date, maintain performance, enhance supportability, and bolster security. By doing so, the City assets and sensitive information are safeguarded and protected. This appropriation allows for the City to replace hardware that is nearing end of life and/or end of support. HITS will leverage existing enterprise contract(s) for the purchase of hardware and installation services.
Fiscal Note:
No significant Fiscal Operating impact is anticipated because of this project.
