SUMMARY:
ORDINANCE tabulating the votes cast and canvassing the returns of the City of Houston Runoff Election held on December 9, 2023; making various findings and provisions related to the subject; declaring the official results of the Runoff Election.
RECOMMENDATION:
The City Council approve an ordinance tabulating the votes cast and canvassing the returns of the City of Houston Runoff Election held on December 9, 2023.
SPECIFIC EXPLANTION:
Texas Election Code §67.003(b) requires City Council to canvass the returns of the December 9, 2023 Runoff Election (the “Election”) not later than 11 days after the Election. The proposed ordinance confirms the number of votes cast in the Election and the results of the Election. The proposed ordinance is in the customary form to conduct the canvass and is recommended for approval.
