The Director of Houston Public Works (HPW) and the Chief Procurement Officer recommend that City Council approve an award in the total amount of $94,400.00 to furnish Sludge Grinders with Motors and Drives and that authorization be given to issue a purchase order to Vision Equipment and Consulting LLC.
This purchase consists of a total of Two (2) Sludge Grinders with Motors and Drives. The Grinders will be delivered to the Sims North wastewater treatment plant. The Sludge Grinders are inline processors that reduce the size of solids that cause jamming and damage to pumps and processing equipment. The Sludge Grinders are a critical component used in the wastewater treatment process. The existing Sludge Grinders are over twenty (20) years old and have exceeded their life expectancy. The Sludge Grinders will be built and shipped directly from the manufacturer to the Sims North Wastewater Treatment Plant.
This project was advertised in accordance with the requirements of the State of Texas bid laws. Twenty (20) prospective bidders downloaded the solicitation document from the SPD’s e-bidding website and only two (2) bids were received. Lowest bidder did not meet technical specifications.
