The Director of the Mayor’s Office of Public Safety and Homeland Security request City Council approval of an ordinance authorizing a contract between the Office of Emergency Management and Houston Community Toolbank to purchase and maintain an inventory of supplies and equipment for disaster clean-up and recovery needs.
It is recommended that City Council authorize the agreement with Houston Community Toolbank. The term of the agreement is one year with four (4) one-year renewal options. The scope of work requires Houston Community Toolbank to loan tools to members of the community impacted by a disaster to assist with recovery efforts. Currently tools will be purchased based on requests by Council Districts A, B, C, D, F, and G with funding provided through the Council District Service Fund Program. The funding provides for the waiving of the Toolbank's Tool Fee in some cases.
The first year allocation is $173,618 and includes the initial cost for the purchase of equipment. Out year funding will only include program management costs. The total agreement value is $353,618.
Fiscal Note:
Funding for this item is included in the FY2024 Adopted Budget. Therefore, no Fiscal Note is required as stated in the Financial Policies.
