In accordance with Section 42-170 of the Ordinances, the property owner of 418 W 23rd Street, Lots 8 & 9, Block 55 of the Houston Heights subdivision, initiated an application to renew a Special Minimum Building Line Block (SMBLB).
The Planning and Development Department mailed notifications to fifty (50) property owners indicating that the SMBLB renewal application had been submitted. The notification further stated that written protest must be filed with the Planning and Development Department within thirty days of mailing. Three protests were filed. The Houston Planning Commission considered the protests on April 27, 2023, and voted to recommend that the City Council renew the SMBLB.
The neighborhood and building line have remained essentially the same since the original ordinance (2003-319) was passed in 2003.
The Planning and Development Department recommends that City Council adopt an ordinance renewing a Special Minimum Building Line of 44 feet for the 400 block of W. 23rd Street, north and south sides, between Ashland and Nicholson Streets.
