PLN - Special Minimum Building Line Block App No. 267 (1500 block of Arlington Street, east and west sides)

Agenda Item#: 36.

Summary:

ORDINANCE establishing the east and west sides of the 1500 block of Arlington Street, between East 16th Street and East 15th Street, within the City of Houston, Texas, as a Special Minimum Building Line Block pursuant to Chapter 42 of the Code of Ordinances Houston, Texas - DISTRICT C - KAMIN

Background:

In accordance with Section 42-170 of the Code of Ordinances, the property owner of 1513 Arlington Street, Lot 9, Block 138 of Houston Heights subdivision, initiated an application for the designation of a Special Minimum Building Line Block (SMBLB). The application includes written evidence of support from the owners of 60% of the blockfaces.

The Planning and Development Department mailed notifications to property owners of twenty-three (23) lots indicating that the SMBLB application had been submitted. The notification further stated that written protest must be filed with the Planning and Development Department within thirty days of mailing. In accordance with the Code, since no protest was filed and no action was required by the Houston Planning Commission, the application was submitted directly to City Council for consideration.

The Planning and Development Department recommends that City Council adopt an ordinance establishing a Special Minimum Building Line of 23 feet for the 1500 block of Arlington Street, east and west sides, between E. 16th Street and E. 15th Street.
