The Houston Health Department (HHD) requests City Council approval of an ordinance authorizing and approving the continuation of a grant from the CDC for the Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity for Prevention and Control of Emerging Infectious Disease (ELC Grant) and delegates to the Director of HHD the ability to accept future grant funds and execute related contract documents for a period not to exceed five years.
Specific Explanation:
The original Ordinance No. 2017-0586 was approved by City Council on August 15, 2017, which expired August 15, 2022. Therefore, HHD requests a new ordinance to authorize the Mayor to apply, accept, and expend the 2023 Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity for Prevention and Control of Emerging Infectious Disease grant and to execute all related contracts, agreements, amendments, and documents with the approval as to form of the City Attorney in connection with the grant application and to authorize the Director or his designee to act as the City’s representative with the authority to accept and expend all subsequent supplemental awards, if any, and to extend the term and/or budget and project period not to exceed 5 years.
Fiscal Note:
No Fiscal Note is required on Grant Items.
