SUBJECT: Treated Water Supply Contract between the City of Houston and Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 568.
RECOMMENDATION: The Treated Water Supply Contract between the City of Houston and Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 568 be approved.
SPECIFIC EXPLANATION: As allowed by Chapter 47 of the City of Houston Code of Ordinances, Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 568 (the “District”) has requested to enter into a Treated Water Supply Contract with the City of Houston (the “City”). The initial minimum monthly contract amount is 0.105 million gallons of water per month, with a maximum of 4.2 million gallons of water per month. Water will be supplied from the Southeast Water Purification Plant.
This contract charges rates for treated water as specified in the City of Houston Code of Ordinances, Subsection 47-61(f). The base rate is currently $4.05 per thousand gallons and the District will also pay impact fees.
This contract shall remain in effect until the District connects to the City’s future wastewater facilities and the City begins providing retail water and wastewater service to its residents, or 30 years after the effective date of the contract unless earlier terminated by the City or the District, whichever occurs first.
Houston Public Works recommends the Treated Water Supply Contract be approved.
