SUBJECT: Interlocal Agreement between the City of Houston (City) and Saint George Place Redevelopment Authority (Authority) for Wisdom High School Pedestrian Access Project.
RECOMMENDATION: Adopt an ordinance approving and authorizing an Interlocal Agreement between the City of Houston and Saint George Place Redevelopment Authority (Authority) for Wisdom High School Pedestrian Access Project and appropriate funds.
PROJECT NOTICE/JUSTIFICATION: The Project is part of the Authority’s TIRZ 1 Safe Routes to School Improvement Projects.
DESCRIPTION: The project consists of the design and construction of a sidewalk along Bering Ditch from Windswept Lane to Beverly Hill Street to improve access to Pilgrim Academy and Wisdom High School.
LOCATION: The Project is located along Bering Ditch between Windswept Lane on the south and Beverly Hill Street on the north, Unity Drive on the west, and West Greenridge Drive on the east.
SCOPE OF THE AGREEMENT AND FEE: The agreement between the City and Authority entails the design and construction of sidewalks for the Authority’s Safe Routes to School Project near and around Wisdom High School and Pilgrim Academy.
The total estimated cost of the proposed improvements is $213,161.00. Per the agreement, the City will reimburse the Authority up to $50,000.00 of costs incurred by the Authority, to be provided from Council District Service Funds (District J).
The total requested amount of $52,500.00 is to be appropriated as follows: $50,000.00 for cost of the project and $2,500.00 for CIP Cost Recovery. The appropriations for CIP Cost Recovery are necessary to fund project management costs but will not be charged to CDSF.
FISCAL NOTE: No significant Fiscal Operating Impact is anticipated as a result of this project.
ACTION RECOMMENDED: It is recommended that City Council adopt an ordinance approving and authorizing the Interlocal Agreement between the City of Houston and Saint George Place Redevelopment Authority and appropriate funds.
