Summary:

ORDINANCE approving and authorizing first amendment to Interlocal Agreement between City of Houston and HARRIS COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL DISTRICT for HCFCD Unit D118-00-00-X007 Design and Construction of Repairs to City of Houston Hike and Bike Trail on a portion of Keegans Bayou (Approved by Ordinance No. 2017-0067) - DISTRICTS F - THOMAS; J - POLLARD and K - CASTEX-TATUM

Background:

SUBJECT: First amendment to Interlocal Agreement between the City of Houston (City) and Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) for HCFCD Unit D118-00-00-X007 Design and Construction of Repairs to Keegan’s Hike and Bike Trail.  

 

 RECOMMENDATION: Approve a First Amendment to the Interlocal Agreement between the City of Houston (City) and Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) for Design and Construction of Repairs to Keegan’s Hike and Bike Trail.

 

 PROJECT NOTICE/JUSTIFICATION: This project is necessary to repair a portion of Keegan’s Hike and Bike Trail along HCFCD Unit D-118-00-00-X007.   

 

 DESCRIPTION/SCOPE: HCFCD included in their project, the design and construction of the repairs to Keegan’s Hike and Bike Trail for HCFCD Unit D118-00-00-X007. The repairs were completed under the estimated cost.

 

 LOCATION: The project area is located along Keegans Bayou and is generally bound by US 59 on the east, Kirkwood Street on the west, Bissonnet Street on the north and Bellfort Street on the south.

 

 PREVIOUS HISTORY AND SCOPE:  On February 1, 2017, City Council approved the original Interlocal Agreement under Ordinance No. 2017-0067. The scope of services under the original contract consisted of the design and modifications. Additionally, construction and repairs were done to correct the failing side slope, erosion, siltation on a portion of Keegans Bayou and damage to the Hike and Bike Trail.

 SCOPE OF THIS AMENDMENT:  The First Amendment is necessary to include the repairs needed to the trail along HCFCD Unit D118-00-00-X009. The estimated cost for the repairs is $119,398.00. No additional funds are required as the additional work will be performed within the original appropriated amount.
