CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, LLC (“CenterPoint”) has requested an easement in Hermann Park for the construction, maintenance, repair, replacement, removal, and operation of a transmission tower and utility lines that will connect to the planned electrical substation at 1115 S. Braeswood. The proposed tower would be located across 1115 S. Braeswood on park land between the road and Brays Bayou. The purpose of the Project is to provide enhanced reliability and resiliency to the Texas Medical Center.
Texas Parks and Wildlife Code Chapter 26 requires the City to publish three public notices and hold a public hearing prior to authorizing the use or taking of park land for non-park purposes. Notices will be published in the Houston Chronicle. The public hearing will be held in City Council Chambers, 901 Bagby Street, 2nd Floor, Houston, Texas. At a later date, an ordinance will be presented to Council to make findings relating to the public hearing and to convey the easement to CenterPoint.
