Summary:

ORDINANCE approving and authorizing Operating and Maintenance Agreement between City of Houston, Texas, and GREATER SOUTHEAST MANAGEMENT DISTRICT for Park at Palm Center - DISTRICT D - EVANS-SHABAZZ

Background:

The Houston Parks and Recreation Department (HPARD) recommends City Council approve an agreement between the City of Houston and the Greater Southeast Management District for the operation and maintenance of the Park and Palm Center, a 2.17-acre tract of land located at 5400 Griggs Road.

The City owns Park at Palm Center, and the District desires to assume operational and maintenance responsibilities for the Park at Palm Center. The 30-year proposed agreement is not a sale or lease of the Park. The proposed agreement authorizes the District to develop, operate, and maintain all areas within the Park at the District's expense. The City will provide water to the Park, for drinking and irrigation purposes.

The District will operate the Park in accordance with the City's rules, which include ensuring that it remains open to the public.
