Summary:

RECOMMENDATION from Director Houston Public Works for approval of final contract amount of $9,049,332.00 and acceptance of work on contract with BOYER, INC for North Corridor Consolidation Package 1B; Trunk Sewer from Hardy Airport Connector @ HCFCD P 155-00-00 to Greens Road - 1.71% under the original contract amount - DISTRICT B - DAVIS

Background:

SUBJECT:  Accept Work for North Corridor Consolidation Package 1B; Trunk Sewer from Hardy Airport Connector @ HCFCD P155-00-00 to Greens Rd.

 

RECOMMENDATION: (SUMMARY) Pass a motion to approve the final Contract Amount of  $9,049,332.00 or 1.71% under the original Contract Amount, accept the Work and authorize final payment.

 

PROJECT NOTICE/JUSTIFICATION:  This project was part of the City’s program to implement a consolidation plan for the wastewater treatment plant facilities located in the north central area.

 

DESCRIPTION/SCOPE: This project consisted of the installation of a 54-inch sewer tunnel. Halff Associates, Inc. designed the project with 450 calendar days allowed for construction. The project was awarded to Boyer, Inc. with an original Contract Amount of $9,206,488.00.

 

LOCATION: The project area is generally bound by Rankin Road on the north, North Sam Houston Parkway East on the south, Aldine Westfield Road on the east and Hardy Toll Road on the west. 

 

CONTRACT COMPLETION AND COST: The Contractor, Boyer, Inc., has completed the work under the subject Contract. The project was completed within the original Contract item The final cost of the project, including overrun and underrun of estimated unit price quantities is $9,049,332.00, a decrease of $157,156.00 or 1.71% under the original Contract Amount. The decrease cost is a result of the difference between planned and measured quantities.

 

M/WSBE PARTICIPATION: The advertised M/WBE contract goal for this project was 20.00%.  The M/WBE plan established for this project was 20.00%.  According to Office of Business Opportunity, the participation was 27.28%. Contractor’s M/WBE performance evaluation was rated Outstanding.
